THE ESSENCE
OF
CONVERSATIONAL LEADERSHIP
March 27-29, 2012
Seattle, Washington
Conversational leadership requires a robust vulnerability, a willingness to challenge our own motivations and stand at our own edge. When we risk living at our own courageous frontier, we encourage others to move together into new territory.
This three-day program is designed for organizational leaders or internal organizational consultants to explore the essence and energy of Conversational Leadership. The focus will be on the critical role conversation plays in restoring and renewing organizational life, allowing our organizations to evolve into dynamic environments where we are called to give our best.
Our exploration will include confronting the nature of conversation in our organizations and examining its strengths and deficits. Since one of the hallmarks of a courageous conversation is that it’s the one we don’t want to have, we will also bring to light the conversations we are avoiding. Participants will leave with a strategy to increase the potency and effectiveness of their conversations.
Our work together will be held in the context of David Whyte’s poetry and the artistry inherent in each of us. David will join us for several sessions during the course of the program. We will highlight specific elements expressed in David’s work, and weave a container to hold our development as leaders and individuals, tending the renewal of our organizations’ vitality.
